Hello Spring…finally! We are back in action and ready to enjoy all this warm weather ahead. Last month we headed down to Sarah and Andrew’s hometown of Brooklyn for a park/city engagement session. Their apartment is walking distance to a few amazing parks, one which looks over Manhattan. I have to say it was pretty amazing, having never been to this area before. The trees were blooming, the sun was breaking from the clouds and a breeze rolled in from the water. The view of Manhattan was so pretty under the clouds, we could’ve spent all day there. We ended the shoot on a little bridge with the most amazing view of the city. What a great afternoon we had chatting with this couple…we are looking forward to seeing them at their wedding next month in Westport, CT! Sarah and Andrew we will see you very soon!

Our little love

As many of you may know, we welcomed a baby boy Christian Alexander February 28, 2013. He was 6 pounds, 13 ounces and 19.5 inches long. Today we are sneaking in the time to finally post some of our favorite newborn photos of him It has been an amazing (although tiring!) 6 weeks with him and we couldn’t be happier! He is our precious little “monkey.” He’s getting big and changing so fast, we try our best to capture every moment!

His first real photo shoot at our studio was taken when he was 9 days old. Let me tell you, it’s tough taking photos of your own newborn…between all the feedings and the million ideas you have in your head you just don’t have the time for. Christian was feisty during his photos, sleeping for only about a minute at a time (sort of how the past 6 weeks have been ha) then wanting to eat. I must’ve fed him 20 times! We snuck his big (half) brother MJ in for some pics…he was not very happy taking his shirt off, but it was only fair! They were too cute together! MJ is such a proud big brother and will be such a big help. At the end we tried to get him to sit in daddy’s hands without freaking out, but us being so tired we sort of gave up on that. At least we tried!

5 hours later it was a wrap. We love the way the photos turned out and are so glad we took the time and energy to go to the studio to do this. These photos will last a lifetime As he grows, stayed tuned for more of course!

Newborn Ella

Toward end of January, the Hurney’s welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world. It was a little bit of a struggle getting this little beauty to relax and go to sleep, but it was truly worth the wait! Thank god mommy was so relaxed and patient, we knew we would get Ella to doze off at some point! It was great to get some shots with her big blue eyes wide open, as well as the sleepy ones in the end. Look at that head of hair on her, she is such a cutie! Congrats to the Hurney family…enjoy every minute because they grow up so fast!

Steph & Dan

Toward the end of January I headed up to the Berkshires in MA to meet my sister Steph and her fiancé Dan for their engagement photos. I was so excited to take their pictures in the snow! It was definitely not the warmest of winter days, about 10 degrees on the car thermometer as we drove from Becket to Williamstown to Lenox, back to Becket where our parents own an adorable cabin in the woods. We only had about ten minutes outside the car before our hands went numb!

We started in Williamstown where Dan proposed to Steph last September in a little garden area near their favorite Thai restaurant. Of course the garden was missing, but we still got to use the little bench covered in a sheet of ice We stopped in Lenox for a few pictures at our favorite resort, the Cranwell, then headed to Becket for the last set of pictures by the cabin. We took a little drive down the road to a cute little area where there were horse stables, then back to the cabin driveway where the sun was setting. The lighting was so pretty at that time. For the last part, Steph and Dan played around in the snow. I felt so bad since it was so cold, but it was so worth it in the end! When all was done, we headed into the cabin to a warm and toasty fire. We are SO excited for Steph and Dan’s wedding this October in CT. We couldn’t be happier for the two of them and are thrilled to gain a fabulous brother in law!

MJ’s Valentine’s Day

On Valentine’s Day my stepson MJ and I started the day off crafting hearts with felt, cardstock, paper and burlap. We later trecked through the mounds of snow into the woods for a fun photo shoot. On this warmer, sunny Winter day we had such a great time being silly and throwing hearts around. I actually started to break a sweat at one point! Stay tuned for some Easter inspiration!

Max Turns One

So I’m a little behind on blog posts, but I couldn’t miss out on sharing these pictures of my nephew Max from his first birthday in December. I have never met a little boy with his sort of expressions. He is such a happy, animated baby, I miss him when he’s not around. We can’t wait for him to meet his little cousin very soon!

Newborn Mason

Mason was born at the end of December, nice and close to Christmas! I had taken his parents maternity pictures just over a month before he was born, and he arrived a couple weeks early. He was so handsome in his little knits and nice and calm for his photos. Even with his eyes wide open he just laid there curious, not making a sound. I loved him in the chevron bowtie and in the “Very Hungry Little Caterpillar” knits. I have so much fun with these newborns, I can’t wait for more! Congrats to the Ryalls family…enjoy every second!

Dylan Turns One

Dylan turned one this past December so his mom brought him to the studio for some fun first year pictures. Dylan loved getting his picture taken at first, but then of course at his age wanted to explore the studio and do his own thing! After a lot of sweating and patience between his mom and I, we pulled it off in the end! Here are some of my favorites from that day…how amazing are his big blue eyes?! Samantha & Steve

Samantha and Steve closed out our 2012 Wedding Season this past December at the Waterview in Monroe, CT. Their evening ceremony was personal and unforgettable as they had known their officiant for many years. Sam and Steve actually went to elementary school together and he knew so many details about their relationship, it was so interesting and funny to listen to! Since it was chilly and dark outside by the time the ceremony was over we used the bottom floor of the Waterview for formals before heading out to use the school bus they had rented as their shuttle for a couple more shots. We wished we had a fog machine for in front of the bus, but instead we gathered a few smokers to blow some smoke. It was pretty amusing, but just not enough for the look we were going for. We did throw one shot in there though haha.

You may remember Sam & Steve’s Elementary School Engagement Session from a little while back. To keep the theme going they had their tables named after rooms in an elementary school. Since Sam is a Yankee fan, and Steve is a Red Sox fan, the bartender had created 2 colorful “Rivaltinis” for the guests to choose from at cocktail hour. Once the reception started Gangnam Style was in full effect (in case you can’t tell from the dance moves). I can’t believe how popular that song suddenly became at weddings! Congratulations Sam and Steve and best wishes in all the years ahead!
