When we go out to dinner and have a glass of wine, our creative minds start flowing (yes… and so does the wine). This past winter we sat down to brainstorm ideas for our next inspirational shoot. For those who don’t know, Michael was a Creative Director in advertising in his past life, and continues to consult on the side. With that, last fall he was working on a DeLeon Tequila campaign that really inspired him. Between the campaign, and our love for the Guns N’ Roses “November Rain” video, the ideas started to get interesting. First, we knew that we wanted the dress Stephanie Seymour wore, but knowing it cost over $20k, that was out of the cards (more on this in a minute). For those of you who haven’t seen the video, please watch here. Obsessed! To make the idea even more intense, we also wanted to add Boudoir into the mix. And not with just one girl… but with one guy and two girls (why not?!). And that is where the story began…

To help us bring our idea to life, we approached Josie from Beneath the Gown in hopes that she would be willing to work with us. The result, a custom designed gown that brought the “November Rain” dress to life, a rack of lingerie, and a life-long friend. Seriously?! She is AMAZING! From there, the rest of the team came together nicely. Talk about a seriously talented group!!

Armed with a bottle of Jose Cuervo, a Les Paul guitar and Fender amp, fog machine, half the furniture from our studio, and enough gear to shoot a feature film… we headed to the Atlantic Wire Mill in Branford, CT to get this party started. Jennie Fresa rocked the girl’s makeup, while Laura Cavallaro styled their hair. Marcie designed and created the bouquet out of silk flowers and other craft items she had laying around. Jeremy White even joined in for the ride and shot the most amazing video! We still cannot stop watching it! And of course there was Josie. Between the wardrobe, styling, support, etc. – she is absolutely amazing (seriously we cannot say enough about her!). To help with all the gear, scene setups, lighting rigs, etc. we had our kick ass assistants Rob Dennis and Brent Swan on hand. Last but not least, how can we leave out the stars of the show?! Our super sexy models Joanne, Pete and Lindsey. Rather than go into the details of the day, we are going to let the images do all the talking. After all… isn’t this post long enough already?!

Back to the post. Sherri and Rob had researched St. Lucia and found the most amazing spot across the island at the Jade Mountain Resort. You may have seen it on season 14 of the Bachelor (Jake & Vienna’s season). The ride there was seriously amazing and we could write a novel about how spectacular St. Lucia is…. but we won’t. Instead of rambling on and on and on… here are some of our favorite shots of Sherri and Rob in St. Lucia. Everything about this session was hot, sexy, and natural. Congratulations again! We can’t wait to see you @ your reception this weekend!!

Melanie and Craig wanted to have their engagement photos taken by the water and also on a baseball field. So what better place than the Trolly Park that is right across the street from our studio? So why the water and a baseball field? The long and short of how they met is that Melanie was the bartender serving Craig beers after his softball games. Sounds like a match made in heaven to me (…and this is the part where Marcie slaps me…haha). Obviously there are tons of romantic details around the story – but I personally love that one. As for the water… that’s easy. They live on the shoreline.

“I recently got engaged and was beginning to look around for a photographer. We don’t have an exact wedding date yet – it’s all still kinda new but we are talking about late March 2012. Obviously, we would want engagement & wedding photos, but I am super interested in a trash the dress session. The more edgy and unique it is, the better! Over the past two years we have gotten to know Sherri & Rob very well. From their engagement session at Fenway Park, to random Monday nights at Mohegan Sun – they have become close friends. Isn’t it amazing what one email can do?!

Rather than get into the crazy amounts of back story that surround this wedding (like the time Sherri and Rob called to let us know they cancelled their wedding in Connecticut and decided to do a destination wedding), we will roll right into the details. The trip began as thirteen of us boarded the Carnival Victory for a seven day cruise through the Southern Caribbean. After a quick stop in St. Thomas and a day at sea, the wedding day had arrived. Once off the boat, it took about an hour to get to Bottom Bay. This place was spectacular. From the towering ocean cliffs, to the white sand… we never wanted to leave. Even better, Jean (who is absolutely amazing!!) and her lovely assistants from Island Bliss Weddings had a lovely setup waiting on the beach for the ceremony. It was like heaven, a perfect day on a secluded beach…a day we will all never forget. Seeing these images brings us right back to that day, we can feel the warm breeze and smell the fresh air. Finally, we took a quick ride next door to the Harry Smith mansion ruins for some formal shots. What can we possibly say about this place?! It was the perfect balance of destruction and beauty (if that makes any sense). Can we go back now?!

We were so thankful to be a part of this amazing journey and are excited to be guests at their reception which is coming up in May. This trip left us with so many memories and new friendships. We will never forget the ridiculous karaoke nights… we have never laughed so hard! Or the time when Rob won and iPad2 with $500 bucks taped to it on a game in the ship’s casino (we were convinced we would do the same, not no! Not nice!!). And how can we forget the baby monkeys in diapers we held in St. Kitts! So many memories to last a lifetime. We can go on and on, but we will save more stories for future posts. After all, we have a Drown the Gown in St. Lucia and a fun personal post coming soon Congratulations Sherri and Rob and we will see you soon! Blackjack??
